2nd District Supervisor Candidates Discuss their Vision in Free Public Event Sponsored by League of Women Voters

 

As election season heats up, the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles and the County’s League of Women Voters, along with Ladera Heights Civic Association and United Homeowners' Association II (UHA II) present a free public forum featuring candidates running for Los Angeles County Supervisor, 2nd District, on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 5840 La Tijera Blvd. (at Slauson), Los Angeles 90056.  Limited seating with early arrival recommended. Candidates in the competitive race to succeed longtime L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas — in a district that represents over two million residents currently include:

  • Chan "Jake" Jeong, Lawyer
  • Senator Holly Mitchell, California State Senator
  • Jorge Nuno, Social Entrepreneur
  • Jan C. Perry, Economic Development Director
  • Rene Lorenzo Rigard, Investment Adviser/Educator
  • Albert Robles, Mayor/Constitutional Attorney
  • Herb J. Wesson Jr., Los Angeles City Council President

 

The 2020 California Democratic Primary, also known as “Super Tuesday” will be held on March 3, 2020, when the people of Los Angeles County‘s 2nd District will also elect their top choices for County Board of Supervisors, along with their choice for Democratic candidate for president.  Two County Board of Supervisor winners will then vie for the seat in the November 3, 2020 Election. The five-member Board of Supervisors, created by the state Legislature in 1852, is the governing body of the County of Los Angeles.

 

The 2nd District stretches across parts of Downtown Los Angeles, Ladera Heights, Baldwin Hills,
View Park, Windsor Hills, Leimert Park, Compton, Culver City, Pico-Robertson, Marina del
Rey, Koreatown and along numerous swaths across Los Angeles County.

The forum will be moderated by Mona Field, League of Women Voters of Los Angeles co-president, author and former political science professor at Glendale Community College.
