January 2025

  • Jan 16: KPFK goes off air due to backup generator failure caused by a water leak in the cooling system.
  • Jan 17: Repairs begin. Nightfall prevents safe delivery of the new generator.
  • Jan 18: Sunrise delivery and installation attempt by Chief Engineer Stuart Landau and team.
  • Jan 20: Power company shuts off service at Mt. Wilson; station remains offline until backup generator is operational.

February 2025

  • Temporary power restored using generator at Mt. Wilson.
  • Engineering team continues troubleshooting power and equipment damage.

March 2025

  • New combiner motor installed and tested.
  • Both transmitters brought back online.
  • Full 75,000-watt broadcast reach restored.

April–July 2025

  • Ongoing system testing and equipment fine-tuning.
  • Additional parts ordered for longer-term repairs and upgrades.
  • Signal stability monitored closely while operating at full capacity.

August 2025

  • Additional maintenance and inspections scheduled at Mt. Wilson.
  • Photo documentation and signal test results to be shared once available.
  • Planning for long-term signal stability and power redundancy continues.
