Dr. Jaz Sawyer is an accomplished drummer and educator from San Francisco. Jaz has worked with many notable artists, and can be heard on over 80 recordings both as a leader and sideman. Sawyer is the son of the late former KPFA board member, programmer and longtime advocate Lewis Sawyer Jr.
Jaz is deeply rooted in the Pacificia Family gaining early radio experience assisting his dad co-producing and guest hosting throughout the years on KPFA from 2011 through 2017. Jaz joined KPFK in May 2021 and proud to continue the legacy of celebrating the music.
