Cary Harrison has rejoined KPFK 90.7 FM Los Angeles for a new weekly series of 9:00 AM Friday shows called “Re-Thinking Heroes: Life After the Military”.  These full-length programs complement his daily 60 sec. syndicated radio commentaries currently heard across 80% of US radio stations.  Known for ‘preventing truth decay’, Harrison brings his free-range perspective which blends commentary, satire, and fact-based research to bear on issues facing former members of the US military forces, including housing and houselessness, reintegration into civilian life and communities, war and peace, privatization of medical care and other VA services, bad conduct discharges that hamper future success, problems facing women in the military and after milkitary service and other issues, as well as the lessons veterans bring to bear on solving social problems and issues. He is joined by a network of veterans who are journalists and by various expert guests.

AWARDS: Vanderbilt University's distinguished Siegenthaler Award for integrity, intelligence and courage in the field of journalism, the Sigma Delta Chi award—the highest honor bestowed for public service by the Society of Professional Journalists, top honors—two years' running—from American Women in Radio & Television for exposé reporting and investigative journalism, and 1st place honors for “Best Commentary” from the Associated Press. Harrison has been honored by the UN, the Mayor and City Councils of West Hollywood and LA for his Environmental and Peace work, The LA Press Club for News coverage, and was recently nominated for an Edward R. Murrow Award in Public Radio.
